Both Salto del Limon and Cayo Levantado are gorgeous places in the DR, I’m sure glad I booked this excursion and got to see these places. We flied to Samana from Punta Cana on a private plane which gives the whole experience a VIP feeling. Upon arriving at the airport we boarded a safari truck and headed to a local ranch to sample many of the local products (coffee, cocoa, fresh fruits, etc) which was very nice, you also get a chance to buy some of it to take home as souvenirs so I recommend to bring cash with you on this tour.

We then geared up to ride our horses (tip: bring socks to wear with the rubber boots provided by the staff), this was a fun part of the day, you’ll horseback ride for about 30 minutes before reaching the waterfall which is BREATHTAKING. This place is absolutely beautiful, perfect to swim. The water is cold and refreshing and the water falling creates a pretty strong wind which is cool. This was my personal favorite part of the tour. We then headed back to the ranch for lunch, which is varied, considering I’m a vegetarian I was able to eat very well, everything was tasty.

After lunch and a deserved break we headed to a small port to board the speedboat that took us to Cayo Levantado, a crystal clear beach on a small, isolated key near the Samana coast. This was the perfect place to rest from all the day activities. We got an hour and a half to do whatever we wanted. One basic drink was included from the bar and then you also have the chance to buy whatever you want, I bought a piña colada served right in the pineapple!

After the hour and half was over we got back in the boat and to the airport from where we flew back to Punta Cana. Great experience, a truly perfect day out:)
